Balcones, then operating as SMR, became the operator of the Lee County Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in October of 2022. With a processing capacity of 30 tons-per-hour, the recycling facility processes 7 to 8K tons of residential single-stream each month and employs approximately 100 workers. Our operations serve the approximately 825K residents of Lee County as well as local businesses.
How to Recycle
The decisions we make when placing items in the recycling bin have a big impact. Recycling right helps processors recover more resources from the waste stream, and depositing the wrong items has the opposite effect. We have compiled resources, from how-tos to useful links, to help navigate all the information about recycling right.
Recovering the material. Giving it a new life. Putting it back into circulation. Starting again.
